Dr Doom Nouriel Roubini Buys $5.5M 3600SF East Village Penthouse

Gloom and Doom Economist Nouriel Roubini who was amongst the first to predict the housing bust way back in 2006 reportedly bought a triplex penthouse at 6 East 1st Street in the East Village, the neighborhood’s priciest listing. He paid $5.5 million for the 3,600SF apartment listed by Halstead with a last asking price of $5.995 million (started off priced at $7.35 million).

Interesting buy for someone who has been very bearish on housing. Does this mean that he’s bullish on housing? Manhattan real estate only perhaps? or was his bearish stance on housing a collosol negotiating ploy?! lol

The best part of the penthouse has to be the drool worthy terraces..two of them! The cantilevered staircase through the entire triplex is not too shabby either. Low common charges and taxes add to this Penthouse’s appeal. Well done Mr. Roubini!

6 rooms
3 beds
3 baths and 1 half bath

Common Charges: $1,240
Taxes: $1,198
